Whilst the majority of residents have bemoaned the endless assault of low pressures that have beseeched the UK this winter it is fair to say the surfers of Cornwall having been having a ball. The off kilter jet stream has brought misery to thousands who are still mopping up, but for a hardcore band of Kernow’s wave warriors it has brought liquid gold.
We have a couple of videos to share with you, the first a cracking snapshot of one of the many fine swells the west coast has enjoyed. Edited by Joe Weghofer and bolstered by a driving soundtrack it captures the essence of this perfect winter. Featuring perfect pointbreak walls the crew attack the surf with drawn out cutbacks and fast snappy turns and the clip includes barrels, seals and snapped boards. Who’s not gonna love a bit of that?
The second edit perfectly captures the season, as the film starts with BBC weather girls stood before huge low-pressure charts that could have been filmed on just about any day over these last few months. Featuring the current European longboard champion Ben Skinner and friends, this modest film is easy to drift into with its heady soundtrack and reeling waves. Filmed and edited by Chris Levi, take a moment to enjoy this short film but be careful because it will probably leave you salivating!
