With the Stand Up World Tour already at the half way stage and with 3 events remaining on the calendar Kai Lenny has made sure that Brazilian, Caio Vaz isn’t going to have things all his own way, with Kai securing a hard fought battle in Abu Dhabi. The event, held in an artificial wave pool, saw Kai in a battle for the win with Sean Poynter and the pair exchanged waves in a tense final.
Kai, who is just at home in the artificial pool as he is charging the massive breaks of Hawaii, was on fine form and secured the win with an incredible air reverse 360, that he somehow hung on to as he laid back in the foam. The win moves Kai up into second place on the overall Tour rankings and hot on the heels of Caio, who could only manage a joint 3rd place, after winning the first two events of the year.
We have embedded the highlight clip of Day 3 of the event, where you can see all the best action from the day, although you may want skip through, as it is quite a long highlight reel. It is worth a look, just to see the impressive wave pool in Abu Dhabi and to see Kai and his air reverse 360 head to the 9.05-point on the video. Next stop on the Tour is the Tahiti Pro on 26th May, this series is still wide open and we are expecting a tight and interesting climax to the Stand Up World Tour.
