The APB 2014 Bodyboard World Tour has seen Amaury Lavernhe crowned the winner of this years tour, following the announcement that the Fronton event scheduled for November has been cancelled. After Pierre-Louis Costes was sent packing in round 5 by Ricardo Rosmaninho, it left Amaury and Uri Valadao with a shot at the title in Sintra, Portugal.
Whilst many Bodyboard fans will be left disappointed that the tour has finished so early in 2014, thanks to the APB we have been able to enjoy a tour of sorts and the sport limps forward with much hope pinned on 2015 and the APB’s shoulders. Cancelled events and erratic webcasts aside, the fact that we have even witnessed a tour is a relief and a testament to the efforts by all at the APB.
Dave Hubbard bagged the Drop Knee World title as well as winning the Sintra Mens event too, and Alexandra Rinder is the winner of the Women’s World Tour, even though she was knocked out in round 5 of the competition at Praia Grande and is only 16 years old.
Full highlights of Day 6 can be seen in the 4 hour video embedded below, but the Bodyboard fraternity must be left wondering what the future holds for their sport and for 2015? Will any major sponsors be secured and will we see a World Tour that plays out with more than 5 venues and without cancellations next year? Let us know if you have been following the Tour this year, what you think of this years contests and are you pleased to see Amaury take the trophy back to The Reunion Islands?
