With the second stop on the WSL World Tour due to get underway at Bells Beach in less than 24 hours, spectators around the globe will be hoping this leg will be less disjointed than the previous event on the Gold Coast. The current forecast for the first few days of the waiting period is for 3-5ft surf but Bells could be blighted by fairly strong winds on Thursday. The waiting period for the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in Victoria is from the 1st April until the 12th, and we hope that when the competition gets underway it runs smoothly and keeps momentum.
Mick Fanning and Carissa Moore were the 2014 Champions at Bells and will be fighting hard to hang on to the crown, especially Moore who will be looking to repeat her start to last years season with consecutive wins after taking the first win of 2015 at Snapper. Another surfer keen to make his mark at Bells will be Wildcard entry Mason Ho, who will no doubt be eager to beat his dad Michael who bagged 6th place there in 1978.
The Rip Curl Pro is due to kick off at 8.00 am AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) and for anyone who is interested in the workings and goings on at Bells Beach, the WSL have a Break Down article which is well worth a read. We have also embedded the official WSL teaser clip with highlights from 2104 below. Who are you tipping to Ring the Bell at Bells this year?
