We are pleased to be able to report that the three times world bodyboard champion Ben Player has made his return to the water just two months after tearing his spleen. Ben sustained the injury during a surf trip to Ireland back in March and had to be airlifted away from Rileys, with his life seriously hanging in the balance.
Ben has reported on his Facebook page that a scan last week has shown no internal bleeding or tears on his spleen and revealed he has been able to head out for a session at a local reef. Obviously a little unfit and no doubt with his head in turmoil, Ben has successfully got his first return surf under his belt and has released a short 15 second video clip of himself back in action and getting slotted.
It is great news to see Ben back in the water and his speedy recovery no doubt helped by his own athleticism and fitness and we hope it won’t be too long before he is back charging, full pelt. You can see the video of Ben’s first wave back and follow him at his Facebook page here.
