If you are lucky enough to live near to a water park or venue that features a wave simulator then you don’t have to worry when the swell drops out. Surf parks such as Wave House, Flowrider and Flow House to name a few, are appearing at more and more destinations around the world and taking the wave riding experience to the land locked. You can even find them on many cruise ships around the globe.
You may have even been fortunate to have had a go at one of the many venues and I bet you found some amusement at seeing other people slamming and getting sucked up and over the back of the wave. It certainly is a great spectator sport and fantastic fun for a group of friends or family to take part in.
For those of you that have tried the “Standing Wave” experience, you will know that it is surprisingly hard and very different from real wave Surfing or Bodyboarding. The learning curve is pretty gradual and before long you manage to stretch a bit more out of your session times and even throw in a few turns, however to get it wired takes a serious amount of dedication.
You may then, like to take a look at the two videos below, which show two riders who are very much at the top of their game. The first is of Bodyboarder Chris Childers who puts his body through some brutal punishment. The second is of Pro Flowrider Eric Silverman who demonstrates some quite mind blowing tricks in the stand-up discipline.
Watch these two riders make it look very easy and let us know if you’ve ever tried and how you got on.
