If I was to tell you that Occy had just signed for Billabong, you might say, so what, big deal, that’s not exactly headline news, but what if I was to tell you it’s not Mark Occhilupo that’s put his name to paper, its his 11-year old son, Jay.
Mark signed for Billabong way back in the midst’s of time at the age of 14 and has had a lucrative career, carrying the baton for the global brand and taking the world title back in 1999. Now his own Son has been snatched up to be a part of the Australian Surf Team and the future is looking awfully bright for the gifted young grommet.
With a talented and former World Champion Dad to guide him, Jay has been raising eyebrows with his confident and accomplished Surfing and Skateboarding skills in and around Coolangatta and has been a regular in the water since he starting Surfing there as a small toddler.
We don’t know what the odds are on Jay Occhilupo becoming a World Champion by the age of 20 but judging by his obvious talent, his role model and the confidence shown by Billabong, we reckon it would be a pretty safe bet.
Check out the video below of Jay talking about his Surfing, Skateboarding and his World Title Aspirations, this lad is going to melt a thousand hearts! One thing that is puzzling us though is what are we going to call him? Obviously Occy is taken, so how about Joccy? Good luck Jay and well done you little ripper!
