News has just arrived, that when this years Boardmasters Festival rolls into Fistral Beach in August, the Men and Womens Longboard competition will be actually be part of the World Surf League Longboard Qualification Series. This is fantastic news for the competitors with an increased prize purse on the table and the British Longboarders will relish the opportunity to surf in front of a home crowd, especially Ben Skinner the local hero who will be defending his 2014 title.
If you have never attended the Surfing events at Fistral, the bay is the perfect arena for competition with plenty of viewing places, stacks of things to see and do and always has a fantastic atmosphere. As well as the WSL Longboard events, you will also witness the Men and Womens Open Competitions, the Mens Under 18 Junior comp and the ever popular Whippersnappers U12 contest. Also new for 2015 is the inclusion of a Womens Under 18 competition.
Newquay is set to host Boardmasters 2015 between the 5th and 9th of August and all the surfing events are free to watch. You will also be able to take in the BMX and Skate competitions, check out the live entertainment and mooch around the humming shopping village.
