Bodyboard fans who enjoy a spot of Dropknee may be interested in supporting a Kickstarter project, which is seeking help to launch the second volume of Dropknee Magazine. The magazine was initially launched in 2012 to rapturous acclaim, but due to a decline in many bodyboard companies advertising budgets, the team have struggled to raise the money to bring issue to to print. This is where you come in.
The second volume is now ready to go, the team have produced a fully finished magazine in their own time and at their own expense and now need funding to be able to take it to the printers. So far things are looking positive and Dropknee Magazine is just over $1000 short of the $6000 goal, with one week left to go. The project has so far had the backing of 73 supporters and are offering a wide range of rewards for anyone who steps up and pledges.
Pledge amounts range from $2 AUD for a shout out in Volume 2 right through to $1500 AUD for a full page advertisement in the mag, but one reward that has caught our eye is the impressive $50 AUD Ultimate DK Double Pack, that offers you a limited edition numbered issue 2, a copy of issue 1, a t-shirt and sticker and a shout out in volume 2. To see the full range of rewards and pledge values take a look at the official Dropknee Magazine Kickstarter page here. The official DK Kickstarter video is also embedded below.
This isn’t the first time we have seen a Kickstarter campaign to help get a Bodyboard mag to print, LiD Magazine also asked for help last year and easily surpassed their target, showing that bodyboarders are passionate about supporting their sport. With pledges starting at just $2 AUD, there really isn’t any excuse why we all can’t help to get Dropknee Magazine Volume 2 off the ground. Let us know if you like the idea of a magazine covering purely drop knee riding and let us know if you have offered your support to this worthy cause?
