Following a very successful run of demo days and some extremely positive feedback, we are pleased to be able to tell you that the Bodypo, designed and manufactured by Dave Hahn, has now entered it’s manufacturing stage and the boards are now available to buy direct from California Surfcraft. At present shipping for the Bodypo is only available within California, but other states will be added within the next few weeks as well as the option for international shipping.
Dave had always planned to launch the Bodypo using a Kickstarter campaign but to avoid further delays and to be able to roll out the boards at a controllable and comfortable pace and to make sure he gets the production and shipping process dialled, the Bodypo’s are already go and the Kickstarter campaign has now been dropped. The boards are available in either a bat tail or crescent template and a choice of three sizes – 39″, 42″ and 44″
For anyone feeling creative, there is also the option to buy the Bodypo as a blank and this gives you the chance to get inventive and artistic and shape your own funky shape to your own design or match a previous favourite Bodyboard template. Shaping the cork blanks is relatively straight forward and only requires basic tools. A finished Bodypo is available for $199.99 (£131.06) whilst a blank retails for $159.99 (£104.20) – at this time the Bodypo is only available to be shipped to an address within California.
Following the demo days throughout SoCal last week, the one thing that has been mentioned time and time again is just how fast the Bodypo is, whilst still maintaining manoeuvrability. Another thing we hadn’t previously considered, is that the cork deck of the board becomes super tacky when wet, and removes the need for a load of wax!
Demand is already high for the sustainable boards and the current waiting list before shipping is around two weeks. To get your hands on one of the first Bodypo’s out of the factory head over to the California Surfcraft website here, where you will also be able to sign up for regular email updates and follow the Bodypo Blog. Let us know if you made it down to the demo day’s last week and if you are desperate to get your hands on a Bodypo?
