If you live in a part of the world like I do, where the swells aren’t that regular, you can sometimes find yourself a little rusty and stiff each time you take to the water. Equally, following any kind of lay up due to injury or illness, it is very easy to loose any kind of water fitness you may have built up. You may then be pleased to know that Ben Mackinnon a Pro Bodyboarder from New Zealand has come up with an excellent fitness programme called Boogerbod, to keep us Bodyboarders in tip top condition.
Ben is a former New Zealand Bodyboard Champion and has also appeared in Hawaii at the Pipeline Pro. Following a series of setbacks including osteoarthritis and heart problems, Ben set up Boogerbod, which is a collection of exercises and stretches to help Bodyboarders stay in top condition.
Boogerbod is a series of free videos that are a great tool to maintain a high level of fitness and are easy to follow and work along to. The equipment needed is all basic gear and readily available and Ben has designed a 20 minute beginners workout, that can be adapted and altered to suit the individual. Handily there is also a workout designed specifically for Drop Knee Stylists. I particularly like the fact Ben has developed specific exercises for various manoeuvres and the clips are broken down with a demonstration of both the move in water and the exercise to follow.
You can find both videos below this article, so have a browse and let us know what you think, I for one will be adopting these helpful and beneficial tips.
