Carissa Moore has won the Women’s 2015 Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach and continues with a momentum she has carried over from last season. The win at Bells makes it three straight tour victories in a row and is the third year running she has ‘rung the bell’ in Victoria. The final saw Carissa battling Stephanie Gilmore in a repeat of the first event of the season at the Roxy Pro at Snapper Rocks.
The win for Carissa leaves her topping the Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour and leading Stephanie, by 20000 points to 16000, the pair are already breaking away from the rest of the pack and are certain to have many more battles before this season is out. In the end Carissa only just edged Stephanie to the win in the head high conditions.
The final wasn’t exactly packed with waves and the two of them had only had one wave each until the closing minutes of the heat, and although Stephanie’s second and final wave scored her an 8.77 it wasn’t enough and she missed out on the win by just 74 points. Carissa’s’ third Rip Curl Pro win draws her level with Stephanie who also has 3 Bells wins to her name and as the tour moves on to Margaret River you can be guaranteed of plenty more excitement on the Women’s’ tour.
So all eyes now move to Margaret River where defending champion Moore will be trying to make it 4 straight wins a row on the tour and three straight wins in the 2015 season. Do you think the tour this year will only be a two horse race and dominated by Carissa and Stephanie?
