Here at Surf Report Towers, we love to follow and get involved with crowd funding campaigns and one that has certainly got us frothing is a collaboration between the most famous identical twins in Surfing, the Hobgood Brothers. Damien and CJ Hobgood have teamed up and are asking for funding of $80 000 to allow them to produce and release a feature length documentary that promises to reveal exactly what the two of them think of each other and their lives competing and growing up together in the Surfing spotlight.
The teaser video that has been released of the project certainly sets the scene for a very informative, honest and interesting documentary and sees the brothers talking very candidly about the rivalry and tensions they have had between them. Let’s face it, we all get competitive when we get in the water but imagine what it must be like going up against your twin brother on a regular basis. Things were so tense between the brothers as they grew up, they even had a strip of duct tape down the middle of the bedroom floor, creating their own spaces!
The twins are seeking a total of $80 000 and at the time of writing, five days into funding the figure stands at just over $16 000. If you want to be a part of this unique project and fancy pledging your support, head over to the Hobgood’s IndieGoGo funding page here and get committing.
There are a range of rewards on offer depending on the amount you wish to pledge, from $5 for a Shaka to $100 for an on camera shout out from the brothers. For the big spenders out there, $1000 will get you one of CJ’s or Damien’s personal Surfboards, $2000 a session with one of the brothers that will be videoed for the film and for one lucky sponsor with $25 000 burning a hole in their pockets there is the chance to own CJ’s 2001 ASP World Title Trophy!
To whet your whistle and to give you an idea of how revealing this documentary promises to be, take a look at the official teaser video below this article. Funding for this project closes at Midnight on July the 13th, but don’t hang around, get pledging and throw your weight behind what promises to be one of the most revealing surf documentaries ever.
