Since 1979, Dakine have always been at the forefront of leash design and they are starting 2017 with the announcement of a new big wave leash called the Pe’Ahi for all you big wave chargers out there. This 12′ leash with 50mm triple wrap Easy Clip release cuff is made from 11mm thick urethane Dura-Cord and equipped with marine grade stainless steel swivels and will retail at £50.
Historically the only way to get your hands on the Pe’Ahi leash was to be presented with one on the Haiku-Pauwela cliffs as you prepared to paddle out and take on the massive wave known as Jaws, but from mid January they will be available to all.
It’s not just the big wave hellmen who can look forward to new equipment, for those who are happier in smaller waves, Dakine have also released other new leashes including the Pro Comp Series (waves up to 4ft), the Kainu Team Series (waves from 5′ to 8′) and the Kainui Big Wave Series (for 8-15′ waves). These new leashes will be hitting the shelves any day now at selected retailers and directly from eu.dakine.com
Let us know which of the new Dakine series of leashes are you most likely to need?
Let’s face it, if you choose to throw yourself over the edge of liquid mountains you are going to need a leash you can rely on and if they are good enough for Albee Layer and Billy Kemper they will be good enough us for us mere mortals!
