We have previously featured a few videos of The Wedge, mainly because it holds our fascination as one of the most intense beach breaks going, and also because you are always guaranteed a few wipeouts which is always good entertainment. Today we bring you two clips that show The Wedge as you have never seen it before, as the footage has been captured by drones.
The first clip has been put together by Eric Peniata of EP5 productions and is a tribute to Lifeguard Ben Carlson who we reported last month tragically lost his life attempting to rescue someone in the same big swell that is featured in this video. The second video is from David Levin of Levin Media, and it is nice to see the many different angles and height David has filmed The Wedge from.
The footage captured from the drones perspective throws a completely different light on the break and shows perfectly how bumpy the wave face is as you watch the bodysurfers get bounced around and you can also see just how quickly the wave moves sideways across the beach.
The sky above Newport must be humming with the sound of these drones! Both videos can be found below this article and when you have taken a look let us know what other waves are you waiting to see captured by drone?
