The Dutch supermodel Yfke Sturm has been seriously injured in a Jet Surf related accident, and is currently in a serious condition in hospital in Naples. The 33 year old, who has modelled for Calvin Klein, Chanel and Victoria’s Secret, was holidaying in Italy and had fallen from her own Jet Surf board when she was struck by another rider in the water. This tragic accident comes just a month after Yfke and her supermodel boyfriend Constance Jablonski, celebrated the safe arrival of their first child, a son named Alexander.
Yfke sustained serious spinal chord damage and a fractured skull in the accident and was rescued by the Italian Coast Guard before being airlifted to the specialist hospital in Naples. It has been muted on the internet that due to the extent and severity of her injuries, Yfke is at risk of permanent paralysis, although at this moment in time this is unconfirmed. In fact, this afternoon it has been reported on the Vogue News website that Yfke has actually woken from her medically induced coma.
Jet Surf boards, are relatively new to the market and are powered surfboards that are capable of reaching speeds of up to 57 kmph, driven by a built in petrol engine. The surfer operates the Jet Surf from a hand held control and rides the board with their feet slipped into straps on the deck.
We would like to offer our heartfelt best wishes to Yfke and her family and are sending positive vibes for a positive outcome from this tragic accident. Please feel free to leave your own messages support below.
