We have previously brought you drone videos of Bodyboarders and Surfers in action but until now we haven’t featured a good SUP video that has been captured by a drone. Today we break the mould and have for you a short, but very sweet clip of Ekolu Kalama, playing in the surf and drawing some very smooth lines on his Paddleboard on the North Shore.
The footage was captured with a GoPro mounted on a drone and controlled by Justin Edwards and with Justin piloting the drone and Ekolu cross stepping his way to the nose of his SUP, the video, which only features two waves, is a joy to watch. Former World Champion Ekolu, certainly has a lick on as he expertly throws his SUP around and Justin struggles to keep him in shot and keep up with him on the wave.
The waves themselves are perfect, and the second one in particular provides a really long ride and the ideal face for cruising on the SUP. The video can be found below the article, take a look and let us know if you have any experience of Drone filming and is it as hard as it looks to keep up with the riders?
