An interesting video has been brought to our attention, starring Ryan Helm, who has mastered the art of finless SUP riding, which allows him to pull off seemingly effortless spins and slides on his Paddleboard. We have previously featured an article on how to nail a 360 on your SUP and featured Laird Hamilton showing off, spinning like a top, but none make it look easier than Ryan does.
Whilst the thought of being able to style just like Ryan at the local spot appeals, I am left wondering how hard it must be to paddle the board in a straight line and manoeuvre it out the back. I have headed out with just a 6” single fin before, in the hope it would make 360’s easier, but I just found the board turning nearly 45 degrees on every paddle stroke.
What makes this even more impressive, is that in the description beneath the clip it says Ryan had only been SUPping a year when it was shot! The video of Ryan showing how it is done can be found below and we would be interested to hear if any of our followers have ever given finless paddleboarding a go and how did you get on?
