The Noosa Festival of Surfing is a contest that is held each year on the regions right-hand point breaks and has firmly established itself as one of the premier competitions for longboarders and paddleboarders alike. In fact, the event is so big they not only have the men and women’s open events they also have specific divisions for men aged over 40, 50, 55, 60 and 70 years old! One of the highlights each year is the Tandem Surfing event and this year was made especially memorable by the riding skills of Harry Bryant and Harrison Bidenn.
Tandem riding has been around since the dawn of Surfing and we can all think of past images from the likes of Rincon or Waikiki where the chiselled and bronzed Surfer holds aloft the gorgeous looking surfer girl in her chunky bottomed bikini. However, it has never quite been done with the style and humour of these two clowns!
Both appropriately dressed in fetching costumes and safety gear Harry and Harrison paddle out to take on the break at Noosa and are soon busting some pretty spectacular moves. You will witness the two of them pull off the No-Hand Headstand, the Piggyback and the elusive and surreal Wheelbarrow!
We are not sure if the boys were allowed to genuinely compete and if so where they placed but the Surf-Report crew have decided they would have awarded full marks for the Headstand and a podium finish at the very least! It is good to see some tongue in cheek fun at a serious event such as the Noosa Festival of Surfing and the featured clip has made our day. You can view the video below and we bet you can’t watch it without smiling!
