With the ASP World Tour gearing up to hit J-Bay on the Eastern Cape of South Africa on July 10th, Gabriel Medina certainly looks like a man on a mission and is currently surfing like a man possessed. The goofy footer already has two wins under his belt this year and, although the next stage will all be on his backhand, Mr Medina is more than capable of taking the perfect right hand point to pieces.
As if he is trying to send a clear message to the rest of the World Tour competitors, a video has appeared that has certainly notched up the mind games prior to the event and shows just how in form Gabriel is right now. The footage was all recorded in one single session on the North Shore, between Pipeline and Off The Wall.
Just his wave count alone is impressive enough, but combined with a huge array of tricks and a board that seems glued to his feet, Gabriel can seemingly do no wrong. The highlight of the clip can be seen at the 1 minute 55 second mark when he busts a huge looping El Rollo, that is not only ridiculously high but he lands it so very casually too.
The video is embedded below the article and is one of those you will find yourself pausing, rewinding and watching again as you try to dissect the move. We would love to hear who your money is on for the J-Bay Open, but with tricks like this in his bag and a barrel load of confidence, Gabriel Medina is going to be a force to be reckoned with at J-Bay this year.
