GoPro have announced price and spec details for a new camera that will hit the market from the 12th of July and will be the lightest and smallest camera in the GoPro range. The GoPro Hero4 Session will retail for $399.99 (£330) and although 50% smaller and 40% lighter than current models, it has been designed to be used with the current range of GoPro mounts. Many will see this as a direct response to the Polaroid Cube and the GoPro CEO, Nicholas Woodman has said the GoPro Session is “our most convenient life-capture solution yet.”
The GoPro Hero4 Session is waterproof to a depth of 33ft (10m) and unlike previous models does not need a separate housing. Capable of capturing 1080p, 720p and 1440p video and 8MP photos, the Session has been designed to be easy to use and features a single multi use button, that will operate either mode depending on how long the button is pushed for. Unlike the full sized GoPro Hero4, the Session does not feature a touch screen, but does give you the option of controlling it via a Smartphone App or remote control.
Weighing just 2.6oz and measuring around 40mm, the GoPro Session also features a new dual-microphone system, which is said to dramatically reduce wind and water noise. We would love to hear what you think about this new addition to the GoPro family, do you think the GoPro market is becoming diluted and confusing and do you think the pricetag for this half sized GoPro is a bit steep?
