GoPro’s are two a penny nowadays and everywhere you look someone has one attached to their board. I have even seen absolute novices at our local beach with a GoPro mounted on their board, presumably to analyze their gurning face as they flap and flounder trying to snag a wave. They may then want to take a look at the video below, that is packed with various clips featuring a host of hot talent all vying for the $20 000 prize on offer for the GoPro of the winter.
The video below is made up off dozens of clips of perfect barrels that went down on the North Shore this last winter and met the criteria set for the competition that eventually saw Jamie O’Brien take away the prize.
Now you have had a taster of what can be achieved with a GoPro, you can be a part of the next competition, which has been set to run between 1st of May and 30th of September 2014 – The GoPro of The World. The competition is open to everyone, so long as the footage has been recorded on a GoPro between those dates. So even if you live in a place that only gets 2-foot slop, then you are still in with a chance, it is not all about massive great waves and perfect tubes (although this will no doubt help).
