The Fiji Pro played out in ideal conditions and Owen Wright set the world alight with his perfect 20 score in the final, but we are more excited to see what goes on behind the scenes on the World Tour. Lucky for us, Hurley have been on the scene and the latest instalment of #Tournotes reveals just what the worlds best surfers are getting up to when they are not competing.
To start with there is a surprising amount of grog being consumed by the crew and it is refreshing to see them letting their hair down and getting boozy during a game of table tennis whilst wearing water safety tour jerseys! It turns out that Kelly Slater lost a board off the back of a ski and one local grom is eventually going to score the find of his life when it washes up on another Fijian Island!
The pros also enjoyed more beer, a spot of golf and hermit crab racing, whilst Filipe Toledo headed out for a paddle on a kayak, before showing he can literally surf anything and riding the kayak stood up performing a pirouette on the way in! There was even a chance for a free surf with Slater snagging a seven second barrel with ease.
The Hurley #Tournotes are a insightful series of videos that get behind the scenes as the pro circuit winds its way from stop to stop and reveal that the tour looks like it is a lot of fun for all involved. You can subscribe to the #Tournotes YouTube channel here. Are you pleased to see the pros letting their hair down, enjoying a beer and a laugh and not skulking back to their digs to do sit ups and prepare for the next event?
