Intense SUP fitness training as demonstrated by the Quickblade Team

News Stand Up Paddleboard Video By Michael Adams / April 12, 2014

Whilst I love a bit of Paddleboarding, whether on the flat or picking up a few waves, and I appreciate how good for my fitness the sport is, I don’t actively train off of the water to help me with my paddling. However the boys on the Quickblade Team take their fitness very seriously and have been taking it to a whole new level as they prepare for this seasons race programme.

The team is made up of 6 of the most finely tuned Paddleboarders on the planet and the video below shows the dedication and work needed to attain bodies and fitness of a level most of us can only dream of. On the water the crew paddle like maniacs after first sprinting down the beach to grab their boards, but it is off the water though, when training gets serious.

Pushing themselves through intense workouts that include push-ups with one leg balanced on a post, to rope climbs in a sitting position or push-ups balanced on a ball, it is dedication like this that keeps them all with such well trimmed body’s. You would imagine a clip of the team working out would be pretty dull, but filmmaker Chris Aguilar keeps things interesting by frequently switching the action from gym to water.

Larry Cain is an inspiration to all of us, with the energy and strength of a lion and the physique of a guy much younger than his 51 years would imply. Take a look at the clip below and then let us know if you follow a fitness regime off the water and if so let us in on some tips!
