Bodyboard fans who are craving a fix of top Bodyboard action will be pleased to hear that the International Surfing Association will be broadcasting the World Bodyboard Championship live from Iquique in Chile when it gets underway on December 6th 2014. The contest is due to kick off later this week and will see some of the worlds best Bodyboarders compete individually and in team events to get their hands on a gold medal at the first class reef break of Iquique.
The ISA is recognised by the international Olympic Committee and is currently celebrating its 50th year of world championships. In 1988 Bodyboarding was included in the ISA World Surfing Games for the first time, but it was in 2011 when the sport of Bodyboarding broke away and the first stand alone ISA World Bodyboarding Championships were held at Galdar in the Canary Islands.
The winners trophies include the names Lester, Tamega, PLC and Sousa and the standard of riding and competition is always top drawer. This year will see over 170 Bodyboarders from 24 countries doing battle in various divisions including the Mens and Women’s Open, Drop Knee and Under 18s competitions.
The good news for Bodyboard fans is that you will be able to watch the action from La Punta Uno via a live webcast from the ISA, and you will find the link here.
