As I find myself longing for the evenings to draw out and the sea temperature to climb by a few degrees, news from the Boardmasters team today, makes me realise that summer is really just round the corner and it is only just over 6 months until the UK’s biggest surf festival gets underway again! The first headline act has been named as James Bay, who will be joined by the Kaiser Chiefs, Craig David and Jamie Lawson – I wasn’t expecting that!
Boardmasters will be rocking Newquay and Watergate Bay between the 10th and 14th of August 2016, and James Bay, who is a fantastic coupe, will suit the laid back festival and delight the ever enthusiastic crowd with songs from his platinum debut album ‘Chaos and the Calm’. Jamie Lawson is also a man very much in the moment, the singer songwriter was the first artist to sign to Ed Sheeran’s own record label and scored a massive hit with his heart wrenching song ‘I wasn’t expecting that’ at the end of 2015.
Garage supremo, Craig David, who is currently enjoying success in the charts with ‘When the Baseline Drops’, has set 2016 as the year to make his comeback, although we are hoping to hear some of his biggest hits like ‘Re-Rewind’ and ‘7 days’. The Kaiser Chiefs need no introduction at all and will no doubt be causing a riot when they take to the stage in front of the 15000 strong crowd.
Full details of all the acts announced in this first round can be found at the official Boardmasters website, where you can also buy tickets to the event, including the extremely good value Charger Ticket. It is also worth pointing out, that tickets to Boardmasters are sold on a tiered system, meaning the sooner you buy, the cheaper the tickets are. Let us know if you are impressed with the first acts that have been announced for Boardmasters 2016 and who else would you like to see the organisers book?
