With the WSL Fiji Pro getting underway in less than a weeks time, it is looking doubtful that John John Florence will be competing following an injury he has sustained to his left ankle. John John who is currently sitting in seventh place in the tour rankings could be joining Michel Bourez and Stephanie Gilmore who have already been forced to withdraw from the Fijian stop.
John John explains in the WSL video below, that whilst he was performing an alley oop, he landed awkwardly on the board and sustained a high ankle sprain. He also reveals the disappointment he will feel if he doesn’t make it to Cloudbreak as Fiji is one of his favourite stops on the circuit, but that he has his sights firmly set on making it to J-Bay in July. The injury occurred whilst JJF was surfing with Filipe Toledo south of Rio whilst they were both filming some new movie clips.
Although it is not definitely confirmed, it isn’t looking good for John John Florence and it will be a shame not to see him at Cloudbreak where he has made the quarterfinals and semi finals over the last couple of years. You can see John John talking about the injury below. Let us know who you think will take the win in Fiji and do you think with the chance of missing out next week is John John’s chance of a tour win dead in the water for 2015?
