A slight grainy video hit the web last week of Kai Lenny surfing at Jaws on a motorised surfboard, but as he was riding in the goofy stance, we weren’t convinced it was a genuine clip. It turns out however that the footage was of Kai on a JetSurf board and because the board was set up with the foot-straps in the goofy position, Kai being Kai took it out and sessioned it “switch footed” anyway!
Earlier in the year we ran an article on the JetSurf board, but we were thinking that the board would be handy to head out on flat days and didn’t really promote the JetSurf as a credible wave riding board. The video below of Kai tearing it up at Jaws, shows that the JetSurf is a formidable bit of kit and a fully responsive board that we will certainly see more and more of as time goes by.
Whilst some may see the JetSurf as an expensive toy and not a particularly green surfboard to be tearing around on, it certainly looks fun. With enough grunt to outrun the whitewater and to pop airs over the wave on the paddle out, the JetSurf is one board we would like to have in our quiver. How about you? Is the JetSurf a board you would like to session or do you have reservations about them screaming through the lineup at a beach near you?
