Teahupo’o is one of those places I definitely would like to see before I die, but not a place I particular fancy paddleboarding at! As if the near vertical drop in wasn’t enough, the chasing foam ball is trying to flatten you and rip your limbs off and then there is the razor sharp reef just below the surface to be bounced onto! It’s not something that worries the Hawaiian Kealii Mamala though, as today’s featured video shows him throwing his SUP over the edge in Tahiti.
Kealii has a proven track record in big surf and along with Garrett McNamara has chased massive swells around the planet including Nazare and is also one of the first people to ever ride swells thrown up from collapsing glaciers! Kealii seems right at home as he drops in and grabs the rail on his Jimmy Lewis Stun Gun SUP.
You can check out the 3-minute clip below and find out more about the Jimmy Lewis range of boards here. Do you fancy a crack at paddleboarding Chopes or would you rather watch from the channel like me??!!
