It seems to have been an age since we saw Mick Fanning take the 2013 ASP World Title at the Billabong Pipe Masters back in December, and to be honest we want a fix of ASP action, and are getting a little bit cranky. So with less than two weeks to go until the ASP Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast gets underway, tension is building and we are getting an excited, nervous buzz as it all kicks off again.
Last years Gold Coast winner, Kelly Slater, will be back to defend the title and we expect to see him particularly fired up and with a fire burning hot in his belly. After watching his performance earlier this month at the Volcom Pipeline Pro, it seems as though Mr Slater has a point to prove this year and we know he would love to get his hands on that elusive 12th World Title.
Imagine then, if we see Mick and Kelly go head to head this early in the season just like 2013, where the two of them locked horns in a semi final that saw Kelly progress with a perfect score of 10.
One thing is for sure; it is great to see the ASP Tour returning and 2014 is already promising to be a vintage year on the tour. Due to get underway on the 1st of March you can get all the information you need from the ASP site here. To whet your appetite we have embedded the official ASP Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast Trailer 2014 for you below. What destination out of the 11 stops are you looking forward to and who are you backing for the Crown?
