28 months in the making and Outerknown, the Kelly Slater driven clothing brand, has finally launched with the announcement that the website is now live. The brand offers a full range of sustainable menswear, from beanie hats to woollen coats but at this moment in time is delivering to the U.S only, (U.K surfers can find the collection at Selfridges).
The Outerknown clothing range certainly looks very nice and there is something to suit every occasion, whether you are out on a dawn patrol or meeting up with your buddies in the pub, the collection has it all – but it isn’t cheap. With a beanie hat costing $95 and a hoodie marked up at $198, Outerknown is not a brand that will be in most surfer’s price range.
There are three items in the Outerknown Evolution collection that are made from Econyl, a nylon that has been created from discarded fishing nets. We all know the issues with ghost fishing in our oceans and it is estimated that there are currently 640 000 tons of discarded nets in our oceans, so Kelly and Outerknown have partnered with Aquafil to use the recycled nylon (Econyl) in their clothing range.
To explore the full Outerknown collection head over to the official website here, but bear in mind that unless you are in the U.S you will not be able to get your hands on any of the range at this moment in time unless you visit one of the shops dotted around the globe stocking Outerknown. We would love to hear what you think about the collection and in particular the pricing of the garments on sale?
