Although Kelly Slater launched his Outerknown clothing brand back in July, the official launch party has been on hold until this past weekend, when it was attended by many big name celebrities who turned out to help Kelly celebrate his latest project. The party was held at the house of architect Harry Gesner in Malibu, California and attracted major hollywood stars such as Gerard Butler, Jason Statham and Julia Roberts.
Alongside competing on the current WSL tour, Kelly has been extremely busy putting together his new sustainable clothing brand, as well as designing a range of furniture for PBteen and his guest list shows his status goes well beyond that of a pro surfer. Other celebs in attendance included Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Gilmore, Johnny Knoxville and Red Hot Chilli Peppers frontman, Anthony Kiedis.
Mind you, it may be said that it is only these high profile, high earning superstars that can afford to shop at Outerknown, which has been criticised for some of the pricing of the clothing on the site, but, from what we are hearing, you get what you pay for and the initially feelings seem to be that Outerknown apparel is well made, seems to be long lasting and made with a conscience, of which many people are happy to pay for.
Are you already wearing Outerknown gear and if so what do you think of it, are you happy to pay for high quality sustainable attire and are you impressed at the circles in which the surfer from Florida is now moving?
