We have woken this morning to find our Instagram feed, swimming with news from Josh Kerr, Mick Fanning Joel Parkinson and Bede Durbidge that the four of them have teamed up to launch an new aftershave cologne called Oceans Mist. They have supposedly formed a company called Surfers 4 and are entering into the male grooming market, although there is a lot of confusion and speculation that it is all an elaborate wind up.
All four of the friends have run the same picture and short statement on their Instagram feed, saying they are working on a new project with 3 of their best mates, along with the hashtags #thescentofwinners and #mensgrooming. We are not sure how much truth there is in this announcement but wonder what the scent of winners actually smells like? Maybe its like the dirty water in my wetsuit bucket? Or possibly the waft of my wetsuit boots?
Whether it is a hoax or not, a lot of work has gone into the picture being used on the pro surfers feeds and it has certainly stirred up a healthy debate on each of the friends Instagram pages. Not since Gerry Lopez promoted Old Spice in the 1970’s has surfing and aftershave caused such a stir! It has previously been reported by the Gold Coast Bulletin that the four surf friends had launched a company called Emencee, and that it was not surf related.
What do you think? Are we about to see a new fragrance hit the market and is the world ready for it, or do you think the four pals are having a bit of fun 2 weeks after Kelly Slater announced on April Fools Day that he was quitting professional surfing? Let us know your thoughts on Oceans Mist by Surfers 4.
