In a great start to the season, Kolohe Andino has won the Australian Open of Surfing, his second trophy of 2015. After winning the Shoe City Pro at Hunting Beach in early January, it seems that Kolohe is going into the WSL Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks with bags of confidence and aiming to make it three out of three.
The Hurley Australian Open at Manly Beach was dominated all week by Kolohe’s powerful snappy surfing and big inverts as he beat fellow finalist Mateia Hiquily by nearly seven points. Local girl Laura Enever has taken the Women’s title with a tightly fought battle against fellow Aussie Tyler Wright and after seeing off World Champion Stephanie Gilmore in round 5.
After finishing 11th on the tour in 2014, Kolohe has made it clear that he is after a top ten finish for 2015 and has certainly started in the right frame of mind. Do you think Kolohe can keep this momentum into the Quiksilver Pro and who else are you backing for the win on the Gold Coast?
