Not one to rest on his laurels, Laird Hamilton is preparing to launch a new core workout machine along with his wife Gabrielle Reece at the 34th annual IHRSA convention in Los Angeles on the 12th and 13th of March. The TotalWave Fitness machine is a low impact, highly efficient and extremely fun machine that helps to strengthen the core (in particular the oblique and abdominal muscles) and improves cardio fitness.
The workout the TotalWave provides, uses and strengthens all the muscles associated with boardsports such as Surfing, Skateboarding and Snowboarding and can be used by all fitnesses and ages of people. To use the TotalWave you rock, pump and push yourself back and forth on a curved rail system and you can up the ante by working towards one legged routines or crouching on the machine. The TotalWave is extremely easy and safe to use and the routines are fun but challenging, with plenty of potential for skill progression.
The TotalWave retails at $3699 and although primarily aimed at fitness centres, are available for domestic use and are smaller in size than a treadmill. It is also worth bearing in mind, that there are no running costs as the TotalWave works without electricity and is also virtually maintenance free.
A video is embedded below of the TotalWave being demonstrated by Laird and Gabrielle and it certainly looks to be a lot of fun, with plenty of exercise options available. More information on this revolutionary exercise machine can be seen at the official TotalWave website here. Keep an eye out for this low impact exercise machine at a gym near you and be sure to let us know if you get to try the TotalWave for yourself. Do you think the TotalWave could alter your training regime and improve your water time?
