Hot on the heels of Kelly Slater’s Outerknown adventure, it has been revealed that he of the tree trunk neck, Laird Hamilton, is to launch his own brand of clothing in October. The Laird Apparel range, with the tagline Live Life Alive will offer three different collections that will include a lifestyle collection for chilling out when away from the water, a fitness collection and a range aimed at on-water sport activities.
Laird has been working in conjunction with Tim Garrett, (the general manager for Laird Apparel), who has revealed the range is intended for the active waterman who is looking for technical fitness clothing that is more masculine than yoga brands but without the ‘jock’ stigma of macho sports brands. The Laird clothing range will be launched in October both online at Laird Apparel and in selected stores, with a follow up push in spring 2016. It all seems quite appropriate after Laird and wife Gabrielle posed naked earlier this year for the 2015 ESPN Body Issue!
Some of the pricing for the range has also been revealed, with a premium range t-shirt costing $50, boardshorts starting at $85 and fitness tops starting at $75. There will also be a hybrid pant, that features the closures and fabrics of boardshorts that can be worn either on the water whilst paddling or for relaxing après surf.
