We have previously featured land SUPping, as a fairly gentile sport, with the emphasis being on keeping fitness levels up whilst away from the ocean or during flat spells, however there is one land paddler who is taking the sport to new levels. Laurent Perigualt is featured in a video, demonstrating that Stand Up Paddleboarding on dry land can be very much a high adrenaline, fast paced and exciting sport, especially when you take it downhill.
The featured video courtesy of Loaded Boards can be seen below, and Laurent can be seen riding his board down a pretty narrow and intense gradient using his paddle as a fulcrum and performing some impressive slides and turns as well as riding off road and in a drainage ditch. OK the board isn’t the biggest we have seen people using as a street paddler and is more like a cruising skateboard, but Laurent is able to slide and chuck it around at speed with ease.
Have any of you been land paddling and have you ever tried to push it to the extremes that Laurent is demonstrating? What do you think the possibilities for this branch of stand up Paddleboarding on land are?
