The coolest and most entertaining competition in the surfing calendar, the RVCA Rolling Retro is back and is looking bigger and better than ever for 2015. The event that goes down each year at Llandudno Beach in Cape Town, is a competition that is all about having fun and enjoying retro surfboards from yesteryear.
For those who are not familiar with Rolling Retro, the event is surfed on boards that are loaned by VUDU Surf and are all classic, retro Surfboards. The competitors are handed a board from the past and paddle out to surf it with style and class and in the manner in which the board was shaped – at the same time having as much fun as possible.
The Rolling Retro 2015 is scheduled to take place on Sunday 22nd of February, with 120 slots available for anyone who is keen. As well as the main surfing event, there is also a Bodysurf and Bodyboard category and for the youngsters, there is the VUDU Nipper Challenge. As usual there will be a fancy dress competition and the “Good Vibrations” music this year is presented by Vans.
The entry fee to take part in this fantastic event is R100, and this not only grants you one of the 120 slots, but also includes the loan of a retro board and an event vest. Good luck to all who enter, we are gutted that the Surf Report team cannot attend and would love to see an event like this on UK shores.
