The thought of attaching your quiver of boards to the roof of your vehicle with magnets seems about as sensible as a paper wetsuit, but Ricardo Joyanes from Granada in Spain has created the Magnetic SurfBoard Rack and after extensive testing the rack is now ready to launch and it certainly works. Ricardo is currently preparing to bring his Magnetic Rack to market and is seeking funding via Kickstarter and at time of writing is a third of the way to his €15 000 goal.
The Magnetic Rack is designed to fit to any vehicle with a metal roof and can be used to carry surfboards, paddleboards, kitesurf and windsurf boards. Lightweight and easily transportable the Magnetic Rack, is perfect for travelling with and fits to the host vehicle via 4 flexible magnetic bases, which are used to secure 2 high density foam supports. The rack has been tested over thousands of miles and at speeds of up to 100mph and can carry up to 4 shortboards or 2 longboards.
The Magnetic Surfboard Rack has a recommended retail price of €95 but early bird backers can grab one for just €65 – check out the full details and all pledge packages by following THIS LINK to the Ricardo’s official Kickstarter page. The official Kickstarter preview video can also be seen below. Let us know what you think of the Magnetic Surfboard Rack, would you be happy to trust your boards to 4 magnets or do you prefer the idea of a roof rack strapped or bolted to your vehicle?
