If you live, breath and eat Bodyboarding and can’t stand not to be out on your board, a new game that is available for the iPhone and the iPad may keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay. The game simply entitled Bodyboard is available to buy via the App Store for £0.69 and has been developed by Wayne Dreis.
This is the first time a Bodyboard game has been available for the iPhone and it certainly is a good starting point. The concept of the game is pretty simple, basically drop in, tuck in and throw in as many tricks as you can. In reality it isn’t quite as easy as that! There are two joystick type controllers either side of the screen and from here you can control the riders position on the wave and the trick you are trying to execute.
At this moment in time there is only one wave to ride and it is always a left, but the developers promise further improvements, including new waves and boards to try out. The gameplay is a bit tricky to master at first and there are no real detailed instructions, you just get stuck in and pick it up as you go along. The rider also seems quite far away and a lot of the screen is taken up by the wave itself.
There are a variety of tricks to work your way through including Inverts, El Rollo’s and Forward Airs and when you do nail a decent move, the rider boots an insane amount of air! For £0.69, the game is certainly worth downloading and keeping on your smart device for those airplane journeys to Indo or The Canaries and will certainly keep you busy as you slowly master it.
We look forward to seeing the game develop and it would be great to see some of the World Tour waves recreated or the option to customise the rider. It is early days, but take a look and let us know what you think, is Bodyboard a game you can see yourself absorbing yourself in?
