As if Stand Up Paddleboarding wasn’t enough fun already, some bright spark has now added a whole new dimension to the sport, by creating a course with a load of obstacles in the way. The idea from Germany is called Supstacle and all you need is a Paddleboard and a reasonable amount of fitness, for what looks to be a great deal of fun.
Competitors have to paddle round a predetermined course and clamber over inflatable obstacles in their way, basically SUP meets Total Wipeout. Still a relatively new idea, there is an official website (although all in German) and this gives some clues to the idea of Supstacle and some regular events.
We love to see people thinking outside of the box and adding another dimension to their sport, we previously featured an article on FootSUP and we think Supstacle will appeal to the masses. You can find a video below that will give you some idea of the obstacles and challenges you will face and as the sport grows the official Supstacle website will also feature an option to translate to English.
What do you think of the idea of Supstacle? Is it something you would like to try and do you think people should push the boundaries in their sport and find new ways of having fun?
