2015 sees the return of the Nixon Surf Challenge, the free surf adventure that aims to search new territories and push boundaries and this year the Nixon crew are heading to the tropical island of Hainan in the Peoples Republic of China. The Nixon Surf Challenge will kick off from May the 26th for five days and is being held in partnership with Lomography, Reef and Monster Energy.
The Nixon Surf Challenge has been running for 10 years now and is an invite only event, that see’s the competitors vote amongst themselves to choose their own winner at the end of the trip. The Frenchman William Aliotti won last years Nixon Surf Challenge, when it visited the unchartered Kamchatka region in Russia. This year we see 9 of the hottest young surfers go head to head including Eric Rebiere, Benjamin Sanchis and Kepa Acero.
The Island of Hainan does have a small contingence of surfers and a few known spots, but the Surf Challenge will be setting off to discover new surf breaks and to surf the best waves possible during the event window.
