After much anticipation the Nixon Ultratide watch powered by Surfline has been launched and is available in a choice of two colours at this time. The Ultratide is unlike any previous tide watch you may have tried; the Ultratide syncs with Surfline and delivers real time surf information directly to your wrist, even GeoLocating to the closest surf break.
Retailing at £240 limited numbers of the Ultratide have initially been released in a choice of Red/Gunmetal and All Black with a full range of colour options due for release on the 15th of May 2015. Whilst tide watches have been around in many guises for many years now, the Nixon Ultratide offers the user 10 times more data than a standard tide timepiece, breaking down the real time conditions to include the wave and swell height, the air and water temperature, the wind and sky conditions and real tide time information as well as tomorrows tide details. An added plus is the fact that the Ultratide also offers you the Surfline Rating for the current conditions – not so good if you are stuck at work I suppose!
Surfline have been at the forefront of Surf prediction for over 30 years and have got their service dialled to over 3300 spots, the Ultratide allows you to browse any one of these spots to check current conditions. With the ability to Geo Locate the Ultratide automatically selects the nearest surf location to you and is able to relay current conditions. If you have a busy schedule you can even set the watch to alert you when your favourite spot is pumping so you no longer have to miss the surf.
There is also an App that accompanies the Ultratide and after downloading and syncing via Bluetooth you can manage your preset surf spots and share your session with your friends on social media. Further features include the option to invert the watch screen between white lettering on a black background or vice versa. The Ultratide is also fitted with a lithium coin battery, thus removing the need to ever charge the watch. With a solid steel bezel and case the Ultratide is also tough enough to shrug off wipeouts and survive everyday life away from the ocean.
