We have featured motorised surfboards in the past, but until now, the boards we have seen have been powered by a petrol engine, making them not only quite noisy, but also running on fossil fuels, they always seem to spew a cloud of fumes when in use. Now a company called Onean have revealed two new battery powered motorised surfboards that are near silent when in use and are said to be easy to use and environmentally friendly.
Onean are a subsidiary of the Spanish company Aquila Boards who have introduced two new electric powered jet boards, The Carver and The Manta. The Carver is a lightweight, highly manoeuvrable board for slalom and carving, whereas The Manta is a much more stable board and aimed at people who want to cruise and explore. The boards are both available for pre-order now, retailing at €3450 and €3650.
The battery within the board, takes two hours to fully charge and will give the rider the opportunity to enjoy 20 minutes of waveless surfing and in the official launch video which can be seen below, you will see that The Carver is capable of reaching an impressive speed. The official Onean website also shows that there will be a third board, The Blade released in the near future. What do you think of the idea of these jet surfboards, are they something you would like to have in your own quiver and do you like the idea of being able to get our and scream about even when there are no waves?
