Paddleboarding is a fantastic sport to improve fitness and strengthen core muscles, but it is also a great way to get outside and explore the great outdoors. Sometimes it is nice to be out on your own with a bit of peace and solitude but there are other times when it would be nice to be exploring as a family unit or with friends. This is where the Mistral Big SUP comes in.
At a whopping 5.5 metres long and 1.5 metres wide this is more barge than board, and like me has been built more for comfort than speed! Its huge overall size and 20cm thickness means it has an insane amount of float and can take 6-8 people easily, meaning the whole family can now get out and paddle together.
Mistral originally built the Big SUP to be used as a competitive board, where teams of 10 would take to the water and race against each other, but it seems to have caught on more as a leisurely board for all to enjoy. We have seen the 18-foot Inflatable Big SUP priced at around $4000, and when you consider the price of an individual board and if you were buying 8, the Big SUP price suddenly seems very reasonable. The next thing to consider is the extra paddles you will need for everyone to allow them to get involved.
To give you idea of the sheer size of the Big Sup and the amount of people you can get onboard with ease we have embedded a video below. Take a look and let us know what you think? Is the Mistral Big SUP a board you would like to have in your quiver or do you prefer to Paddle, leaving the stresses and noise of family life behind?
