Porthtowan to host 2nd Slyder Cup, finless competition

If you are at a loose end this weekend and happen to be in Cornwall, you may want to take a look at The Slyder Cup Competition that will be going down on Sunday 22nd June 2014. The Slyder Cup is being held at Porthtowan and is the second year the competition has been run.

Coinciding with the Summer Solstice the competition will run for the one day and is a showcase of finless boardriding including handplane surfing, paipo/bellyboard riding, alaia and surfmat riding. It promises to be a great days entertainment and the weather is looking favourable although the Surf looks like it will be small.

It is still not too late to enter either, and with the entry fee only £7.50, it will be a great excuse to get wet and to get involved in this event that very much focuses on having fun. There is even a “Run what you brung” expression session where you can ride anything you like (so long as its finless) and is sure to see some craft and riding that will be talked about for years to come.

As well as the Slyder Cup event happening in the water, there will also be the opportunity to meet some of the shapers and also to take some of the gear out for a test slide. To find out more about the Slyder Cup and to enter yourself if you reckon you can slide with style then take a look at the event organisers, Approaching Lines site here. Let us know if you are going to pop down and what finless bit of kit would like to enter on?
