Have you ever left your third choice board behind on a trip because you were worried about being hit with excess baggage charges or have you ever been caught trying to sneak 3 boards through when you should only carry 2? Well worry no more because a clever new boardbag by Pro-Lite, called The Smuggler allows you to carry three boards but however anyone checks the boardbag over, they will only ever find two boards inside!
The brilliant idea for the Smuggler Series boardbags came about when Timmy Reyes tried to beat the system and hoodwink officials by saying he only had two surfboards in his bag. They checked and soon found he was in fact carrying three and fined him $150! It was this experience that got Timmy thinking about the age-old problem of how to take three boards on your travels whilst only declaring two.
The result is an ingenious boardbag that has a hidden inner pocket compartment to conceal a board. The basic principle is that you slide your boards into different pockets that only reveal the tail or nose depending on which side of the bag you check from. Whichever way the officials open the bag they will only ever see two boards contained. The official video is embedded below and will make it all perfectly clear. The Timmy Reyes Smuggler Series Board Bag is available in 3 sizes – 6’0, 6’3 and 6’6.
Although a creative and ingenious idea, there is one downfall that I can see. By making a video and putting it on Vimeo, how long until the airport aficionados see it and order an all ports bulletin to check for any boardbags that are called the Smuggler! Mind you if you blag it once, the boardbag will pay for itself anyway! Happy Days! You can check out the video below to see the Smuggler Series Boardbag demonstrated by Timmy Reyes and can head over to the Pro-Lite website here. Let us know what you think of this smart looking boardbag and do you think you will be able to get through the airport checks with three boards in future?
