Any of you who have been tuning into watch the action from Drug Aware Margaret River Pro will be well aware just how good the event has been. Without any shadow of a doubt, it has been hands down the most exciting stop on the World Tour this year so far and the conditions have been beyond comprehension, but what do you think the pros get up to in between events? You would be forgiven for thinking they would have a massage and a rest but as today’s featured video shows, most of them head off to find even better waves, this time at North Point.
The clip comes courtesy of the Exclusive Series at mySurf.tv, and it features many of the best surfers on the tour enjoy a little backlit free surf at North Point, where the waves were just about perfect and the barrels were plentiful. Three minutes follow with the likes of Sebastian Zietz, Kelly Slater, Jay Davies and Mick Fanning getting shacked on waves up to three times overhead and steaming like a train down the point. The high tempo edit contains gutsy drops, drop ins, deep pits and some top draw surfing.
There was a chance the Drug Aware Pro might have run at North Point and now after watching this video it is easy to see why many thought it would have been a good call. Not that we haven’t had our fill of wipeouts, big waves and classy surfing at Marg’s main break and The Box. Check out the high tempo, high excitement clip below and let us know if you think the Drug Aware Pro should have run at North Point?
