Over the last year we have suggested different ways of getting your thrills when the waves are flat, such as Bodyboarding in the streets on tarpaulins or playing a round of golf on Laird’s Golfboard, but none of these seem quite as much fun as wake boarding with a Ferrari. This is exactly what happened when pro wakeboarder Gorge Jill was towed along a canal in Lincolnshire on his board by the 4.7 litre, 520hp, V12 Ferrari F50!
The video is the work of a group called Tax The Rich whose mission seems to be to abuse supercars and then share the footage on the worldwide web, and this particular clip is pretty exciting. The idea of using a car to tow surf is obviously highly illegal and we don’t encourage any of our followers to try it!
Working extremely quickly, Gorge straps himself to his board and jumps into the murky water as the gorgeous yellow Ferrari takes up the slack on the rope. After gently accelerating the driver soon picks up speed and takes the car and Gorge up to speed, and although we don’t know exactly what speed they were travelling at, Gorge was absolutely flying! With the throaty roar of the engine and the camera footage from Gorge’s perspective, I was sure I could smell the burning rubber as I watched!
To see the unlikely tow vehicle and Gorge in action, check the video below and let us know your thoughts. Do you consider this a bit of harmless fun or a reckless and foolish pastime? Either way, hats off to Gorge, I don’t think I would want to be towed at that speed.
