The 2015/2016 Big Wave World Tour is officially going to get underway with the announcement this morning that the opening event, the Quiksilver Ceremonial at Punta de Lobos has been given the green light and will get started on Thursday 30th of April. There has been talk for the last few days of an imminent huge swell and it is now expected to arrive on Thursday and will be significantly above the 25 foot that is required for the event to go ahead.
24 of the worlds best big wave surfers will now be steaming their way to Chile to throw themselves down the monstrous waves being driven by a huge weather system off of Antarctica, before heading to California on Friday to attend the Big Wave Awards! Surfers due to compete at the Quiksilver Ceremonial include Mark Matthews, Josh Kerr, Grant Baker, Jamie Sterling and Koa Rothman.
Unfortunately there is no live feed planned for the Quiksilver Ceremonial, a real shame because it would attract massive amounts of interest around the globe, but you will be able to receive real time updates via the WSL website and App. You can see the official WSL announcement here and let us know if you think the WSL have got it wrong and this event should be streamed live?
